Introduction

I began The Red Volume off the back of Liverpool FC’s first league title in 30 years. As a lifelong fan with strong connections to the club, I saw this as an opportunity to celebrate the club and its incredible history. For many years my family have collected matchday programmes from attending games, picking up around the city of Liverpool and in recent times online. As we started the gather them together during the pandemic, I wanted to share the collection to everyone.

Design Process

Design Process

I found inspiration from other creatives out there using a simple background with scanned images of programs. I decided to use a plain simple background that matched the primary colour of the selected programme. I worked my way through each programme and marked the pages that stood out within them. Keeping an eye out for any unusual designs from a yesteryear or interesting facts or statistics that may be forgotten about.

The colours used were to compliment the chosen programme with a light shadow to add some depth to the image. The Red Volume logo can be found at the end of each post with the appropriate background to the selected programme.

I enjoyed my time sharing the programmes with my audience but other working commitments and desires to travel have gotten in the way of pursuing The Red Volume. I do hope a time may come in the future where I can pick things up as the love for the collecting programmes will not wear off with my family.
